I love you a lot.
Last week, my aunt asked me whether I had come back home safely, and I was awed and filled with emotion when she asked. I assured her that I was OK and shared a few details of my trip with her before saying thank you for checking on me and that it meant a great deal to me.
It was the first time I used such words towards her, someone dear to me, a mother figure I owe a lot, who has known me my entire life. It was my first time telling her that.
I rarely uttered this term; in fact, I can count on one hand the number of people I said it to - and, apart from my prior romantic partners, I don't think I have used to someone in my family.
Emotional, yet without the courage to express myself, has been a challenge for as long as I can remember. Of course, as a male, I know better than to blame "toxic masculinity" for my inability to express my emotions. But, I am a grown-up now. I know better and should do better.
No longer in vain, but rather as an expression of appreciation for those who matter most to me, I'm learning to say I love you more often. It's a shame that I've only used the word "love" to describe things like my favourite deserts, television shows, or poems and not as often to express my feelings for those closest to me.
Love manifests itself in various ways, and pure love is always beautiful, no matter how it manifests itself.

Feeling rather than thinking: To be liberated from the past, we need to mourn it, and for this to occur, we need to get in touch with what it felt like; we need to sense, in a way we may not have done for decades.
Why We Must Explain Our Own Needs: One of the most delicate things about being a baby is that our minds can be read by others.

Eiffel: With a love tale for Adrienne Bourges, this one chronicles architect Gustave Eiffel's journey to design the famed Eiffel Tour for the 1889 Universal Exhibition.
Uncharted: Although based on a PlayStation game, I was never a gamer, so this was a whole origin story for me. It was a gorgeous heist movie with great acting from Tom Holland and plenty of laughs and hilarious moments; it felt like an easy to digest Indiana Jones.
Inventing Anna: Anna is a different breed if you liked or disliked the viral Tinder swindler. Instead, she tricks the elites in an exceptional form—another captivating Shondaland production.
