The Wisdomous : creating rather than consuming.
Welcome to The Wisdomous - a friendly email sent to you every week to nourish your mental wealth. You will find micro-lessons from macro thinkers, a good story, awesome reads and some fun suggestions.
Hey Wisdomous friends,
I hope everything is going well for you. I've been thinking about this quotation lately: "Replacing the drive to consume with the habit of creating."
I'm not just thinking about it; I'm also attempting to incorporate it into my daily routine.
We live in an economy based on attention, and our attention is the currency.
When I was off work a few days ago, I thought about where our attention goes in our life, and I realised there is a lot to accomplish if we really want to focus on it.
Allow me to assure you that you do not require extra help; rather, you must make meaning of what you currently know. Our brains are already brimming with riches; all we have to do now is allow it to flow. The flow shows through in your creations, and there's a lot that's waiting for your acceptance.
According to a quote by Seth Godin, a creative isn't who we are, but what we do.
Let me give you an example: I've been writing on the internet since I was 12 years old, starting with quotes on my Facebook page and growing to a group of over 6,000 members. I've gained many skills along the way, but one thing that makes me happy is seeing my taught process grow, what I've learned and unlearned.
In retrospect, creating rather than consuming will teach you more.

“The tranquillity that comes when you stop caring what they say. Or think, or do. Only what you do.” - Marcus Aurelius

Be part of the solution: If you want your life to feel right, be good, be successful and mean something, you have to put something back. You have to pay back your loan. You have to reinvest in life, and that means caring and wanting things to get better.

What marriage means: It's no secret that we live in the age of the ephemeral. We've gotten used to the temporary, the fleeting, and the impermanent. We are so concerned about short-term events that we forget about the long-term consequences.
The cycle of distraction: Many desires can be manipulated, if not completely mitigated, by how you think about your urges. How do we break free from that cycle?
Notes.
Ever heard of the Eisenhower matrix?
The Eisenhower Matrix, also referred to as Urgent-Important Matrix, helps you decide on and prioritize tasks by urgency and importance, sorting out less urgent and important tasks which you should either delegate or not do at all.
Prioritizing tasks by urgency and importance results in 4 quadrants with different work strategies:
DO FIRST: First, focus on important tasks to be done the same day.
SCHEDULE: Important but not-so-urgent stuff should be scheduled.
DELEGATE: What's urgent, but less important, delegate to others.
DON'T DO: What is neither urgent nor important, don't do at all.
This has helped me massively when it comes to prioritizing things in my life, and I urge you to look into it.
In layman's terms:
Do: Urgent and important.
Decide: Important but not urgent.
Delegate: Urgent but not important.
Remove: Neither urgent nor important.
Fun.
