The Wisdomous : How are you?
Welcome to The Wisdomous - a friendly email sent to you every week to nourish your mental wealth. You will find micro-lessons from macro thinkers, a good story, awesome reads and some fun suggestions.
Hey Wisdomous friends,
Ohh what a long week, full of ups and downs as life is tailored. When my moods are low, what do I do? I keep a journal. Here is what made the entry this week :
I've struggled to respond to the inquiry "How are you?" for most of my adult life.
There are two possible responses to this.
I'm fine.
I'm not, which raises more questions.
I find it difficult to respond since "I am OK" isn't always true, especially when the background is hazy and the face we're exhibiting conceals a few scars. On the other hand, if I say I'm not fine, I'm whining and complaining because I usually know why I'm not, so venting wouldn't help. I try to avoid answering it.
You may have noticed this if we had a long chat.
As a friend recommended, I'm learning not to answer follow-up questions. It's alright to say things haven't been great and I don't want to talk about it.
May we not lose the day in anticipation of the night, and the night in fear of the dawn, fine or not. The present is truly a gift.

It sometimes takes more courage to let go of something than it does to cling to it.
The universe surrenders to the mind that is still.
Things worth having are worth waiting for.
Be happy with what you have while working for what you want.

I will share a few things about the book:
1. There are two sections, Paper and People.
2. It is 300 pages long.
3. There are approximately 50 short poems.

Internal resistance: Internal resistance is not a flaw, nor is it all-powerful. It is a facet of human creativity and growth, and it can be managed. But we have to start by recognising it for what it is.
Grateful for the little things: Is there a week when I haven't mentioned the concept of gratitude? This article made me think even more.
I am currently listening to Man's search for meaning by Viktor E Frankl.
Notes.
Just For Today
1. Just for today, I will be happy. Of course, this assumes that what Abraham Lincoln said is true, that “most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” Happiness is from within; it is not a matter of externals.
2. Just for today, I will try to adjust myself to what is and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my family, business, and luck as they come and fit myself to them.
3. Just for today, I will take care of my body. I will exercise it, care for it, nourish it, not abuse it nor neglect it to be a perfect machine for my bidding.
4. Just for today, I will try to strengthen my mind. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.
5. Just for today, I will exercise my soul in three ways; I will do somebody a good turn and not get found out. As William James suggests, I will do at least two things I don’t want to do just for exercise.
6. Just for today, I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress as becomingly as possible, talk low, act courteously, be liberal with praise, criticize not at all, nor find fault with anything and not try to regulate nor improve anyone.
7. Just for today, I will try to live through this day only, not tackle my whole life problem at once. I could do things for twelve hours that would appal me if I had to keep them up for a lifetime.
8. Just for today, I will have a program. I will write down what I expect to do every hour. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it. It will eliminate two pests, hurrying and indecision.
9. Just for today, I will have a quiet half-hour all by myself and relax. Sometimes, in this half-hour, I will think of God to get a little more perspective into my life.
10. Just for today, I will be unafraid, especially I will not be afraid to be happy, enjoy what is beautiful, love, and believe that those I love, love me.
Fun.

Films
Jungle Cruise: Imagine a child born from the union of Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones. Gorgeous. It's a long film, but it's jam-packed with fun, and Emily is fantastic. Sorry for the spoiler, but near the film's end, The Rock transforms into a rock. 😂😂😂
Man Like Mobeen: Oh, what a delight. It's a brilliant idea to use humour to address serious social issues. Drugs, racism, and knife crimes are all addressed in an educational but humorous manner. This is a must-see!
